What this white noise sounds like
White noise distributes roughly equal power across frequencies. To a listener it is a bright, continuous hiss. This sample is generated sound, without voices, music or a room recording.
The same 20-second digital loop repeats. The player smooths its start and end. A bright sound can still feel different on a phone speaker and a larger speaker; the name describes its spectrum, not its suitability for a particular baby.
Prepare a short session
- Check the output device and its volume before pressing Play. The browser volume starts at 10%.
- Keep the device and its cables outside the sleep space. Read the sound safety and volume guides before use.
- Choose a timer duration. The initial 15 minutes is a convenience setting, not a prescribed sleep duration.
- Press Play yourself. Pause keeps the selection and a running timer’s deadline. Choose Off in the timer to cancel its automatic end.
Does white noise help every baby?
There is no guaranteed response, and this site does not provide a treatment for crying, sleep difficulties or hearing conditions. If the sound is unwelcome, stop it. A sound player does not observe the baby or know whether the baby has settled.
Use the comparison page to hear the other noise colors. Compare one at a time and avoid compensating for a less audible color by sharply increasing device volume.
